Going for a run used to mean changing shoes and heading out the door…but now there’s a copious amount of hi-tech gadgets and running gear to appeal to a world of joggers. Many joggers these days are geared up, from state-of-the-art shoes to heart rate monitors, not to mention how many runners never leave home without their favorite MP3 players, either. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a few MP3 choices on the market.
The Dancepants Kinetic Music Player puts an unusual, conceptual twist on the fitness music players–major motivation to keep moving. One must run in order to keep the music playing, since their own momentum powers their tunes…stop moving and the music shuts off. Yep, you better keep moving if you want to keep grooving.

If you plan on taking a portable music player running on a rainy day or to the beach, there are many options available. But if you want to downsize what you carry, then Fitness Technologies diminutive UWaterG2 is worth a look – it’s claiming to be the smallest waterproof MP3 player in the world. Weighing in at just under an ounce, at a full stature of 0.4 x 1.25 x 1.75 inches (9 x 30 x 45mm), you just might forget that you’re wearing an MP3 player at all. It’s waterproof up to 10 feet (3m), is Windows and Mac compatible, has 2GB of onboard memory, and has several other useful features.

Shady characters can lurk in even nice neighborhoods, so Taser has a The Taser MPH (Music Player Holster), which is a line of stun guns that combine a 1GB MP3 player and Taser C2 holster. It comes in leopard print, red-hot red, fashion pink, and a host of other colors. The taser will render any potential attacker unconscious, but can be hazardous to people with pace makers or unhealthy hearts, so use it judiciously, if you must use it at all. Even if you never use it, it can make you feel more secure, especially knowing your protection is somewhat camouflaged…and very functional.
